I can always be distracted by love, but eventually I get horny for my creativity.

Remember how I wrote about the Deep Throat and censorship? Well here goes, you can all legally watch the next two movies below with your children around you… but you may have to explain the glazed look in your eye and the beads of sweat trickling down your brow.
Fans of Jilly Cooper novels, this is certainly for you
The first movie A Caballo filmed by Matthew Davidson is a work of art, a slow motion epic with two beautiful specimens as its protagonists. The sheer sexuality and power of Nacho Figueras, one of the 100 top Polo Players, Ralph Lauren’s model and voted second handsomest man in the world by Vanity Fair in 2009 is matched muscle for muscle by the wild elegance and power of his mount, Vasco Negro. Watching the muscles ripple under their skin, the flow of their moves and the perfectly synchronized and perfectly attuned dance is testimony to the trust and love and sheer power that goes into this relationship.
Messieurs, not to worry, Matthew Donaldson catered to your taste too and actually served up his own daughter, the model Lily Davidson, on a platter. Professionally tossed hair by Sam McKnight, the world renowned hair stylist In the following movie you can see a femme in all her glory, hair blowing in the wind face covered by strands only to be uncovered layer by layer like the provocative unveiling of a belly dancer’s seven veils.
The use of slow motion in both these movies accentuates the sensuality of the human body at its rawest. Even technology, which tends to be associated with coldness and calculation, is morphed in the hands of this artist into sexuality and provocation. Amazingly, the movie was filmed in 2 Seconds! Time during which Lily turned 360 degrees . and to be honest, she turned my head too!

Catherine Deneuve, Still the Champion of Mystique.
Great title of the NYMag article I read last night which finally gave me clue to solving the mystery of the Great Catherine.
Because despite the countless Catherine Deneuve movies I have seen – from the iconic Belle de Jour to her latest Potiche – I have to confess that there was something about her that always fascinated me in an ever annoying manner!
Mais enfin quoi ?
Until last night, I was never quite able to put my finger on it …
In a few paragraphes David Edelstein clearly described the actress in a way that was so in line with the personae that I had come to know:
“She’s the original bottom as top” is how a friend puts it: a woman who submits in order to control.”
“Her business is seducing by withholding, giving us her tantalizing image and little else.”
Enough said, read the article because when it comes to business, she’s a Pro!

And if you can catch her latest movie: Potiche. The story is such an easy feminist plot from the 70s but Deneuve plays admirably well and it is an easy and enjoyable way of getting a good-old-feminist-booster shot!
Potiche means a kind of vase but it is more often than not used to designated the trophy wife – and the dumber the better. The quirky comedy is based on a theatre show from the 70′s and although it clearly wants to look démodé, the contrast with the storyline is quite stark.
Deneuve embodies a wife that is asked NOT to think and NOT to give her opinion. She prefers to actively remain blind to the frasques of her husband. But when he suffers from a heart issue and is forced to leave for a rest period, she gets the helm of the family business and acquires a taste for independance… et oui!
Catherine Deneuve also has a current retrospective at BAM.
Can’t get enough of that MYSTIQUE!

Am I the last one to have heard about the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy?
My girlfriend S assures me it is an erotic page-turner that She should not miss.
Bien sur, intrigued about the romantico-BDSM flavor, I got myself a copy. This should feed nicely my current terribly-sentimental-terrifically-sexual mindset.
Strong monogamous relationships where the characters naturally navigate the power plays tend to make up the great love & erotic stories: think Gone with the Wind, The Story of O or even Venus in Fur. I have been warned not to expect high-end literature but that suspense, great characters and even spicy email exchanges make up for what is missing. Which reinforces my belief that one should not strive to eliminate one’s shortfalls as much as focus on enhancing one’s particular skills. -Is that too long of a sentence for a Sunday?
And since I am a really gifted person who can do 2 things at once, I am listening to the playlist of the book compiled by the author, E.L. James while reading the book.
A moi, l’extase!

The sex was so good that even the neighbors had a cigarette.

Bedroom: check
Bathroom: check
Off to the kitchen right now!

Insatiable?
Enfin, qu’allez-vous imaginez, la!
I just need to add another room to be able to get the triptyque by Steve Lambert from 20×200!
There is something about his work that just triggers an immediate YUP! with a corner of my mouth that just winks. And then the thinking begins, slowly even slightly unconsciously so.
I’ll let you know where this one takes me… hopefully to be using every corner of my apartment to it’s full potential.
So explore Steve Lambert’s work. I loved his New York Times Special Edition … Made me want to dare to start thinking that maybe the world could be slightly different.

Artist Statement: “I want my art to be relevant to those outside the gallery – say, at the nearest bus stop – to reach them in ways that are engaging and fun. I intend what I do to be funny, but at the core of each piece there is also a solemn critique. It’s important to be able to laugh while actively questioning the various power structures at work in our daily lives.
I have the unabashedly optimistic belief that art changes the way people look at the world. That belief fuels a pragmatic approach to bring about those changes.”

If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.
